About us

RLNYH is a no profit limited company established in 2005. Its aim is to promote cultural understanding, both amongst and within cultures. As part of this effort, it supports mindfulness-inspired activities, which help individuals come to terms with their own emotional challenges, as well as with the challenges created by the changes that society is experiencing.

What we do

It works with other no profit and charitable organisations, to provide them with the required support and expertise for helping foster a working environment where low level mental health issues are understood and managed.

How we do it

It has developed a low level mental health management system, which takes inspiration and tools from a variety of disciplines such as Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP, and organisations such as the Mental Health Foundation. In the last year, it has run Mindfulness-based activities for the Barnsley Men's Shed and the She Shed Association, and for the Sheffield-based 'All About You' charity, including training tutors.

Results

The stress level of service users, based on the STRESS TEST administered informally to participants on a regular but voluntary basis, has consistently dropped considerably from the start point, in some cases going from an over 80% stress level to a less than 60% stress level. This has proved to be very useful for the She Shed Association activities, which involves older women including ex-service women usually suffering from mild depression.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice that individuals and groups can do on a day-to-day basis. It can enable people to change the way they think and feel about their experiences, especially stressful experiences. As a mind-body approach, it can increase our ability to manage difficult situations and make wise choices.

Easylang™

RLNYH was established in 2001 as a spin-off from the Department of Education & Skills project and is responsible for promoting language and skills for employability, cultural awareness and social cohesion.
The organisation works very closely with local authorities and charities to develop and implement policies widening the knowledge of other cultures. It advises stakeholders and policy makers including non-native English speakers about inter- and cross-cultural skills. Some of the ‘learning groups’ explore the training needs of leisure industry operators to handle visitors from different cultures, to respect their culture and to make sure that they are supported to respect the culture of the place they are visiting. The organisation was responsible for designing and delivering the EASYLANG™ language learning packages to train operators working within the newly established Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The languages covered were Italian, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese. The organisation has run English for Work learning groups aimed at migrant and asylum seekers, funded by ESF and national Lottery.
