The search is on for the region"s enterprise success stories with the launch of the Enterprising Britain 2009 competition. Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, is calling for hotspots of innovation – locations which are tackling the economic downturn head on by creating jobs, boosting local businesses and nurturing budding entrepreneurial talent – to step up and show why they deserve to be named the Yorkshire & Humber"s most enterprising place.

Exporting help announced for small business - posted 2nd March 2009
 

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) has announced new funding rules for small and medium-sized businesses to enable them to take part in more overseas trade fairs and increase their exports. As part of the Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) small firms can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £1,800 to take part in one of 400 international trade fairs. The new rules state that a firm can now apply for a maximum of six grants in its lifetime, instead of three. The rule comes into force from 1 April 2009.
